Watch «Femicide. One case, many struggles» worldwide.

As the year comes to an end, I’d like to share that my documentary Femicide. One Case, Many Struggles (2019) is now available worldwide on Amazon Prime.

You may have already seen the film, or you may want to recommend it. The subject of gender-based violence — along with the issues the film explores, such as grief, mourning, mental health, feminism, and activism — continues to resonate deeply in today’s complex world.

Synopsis

On July 19, 2005, María Elena Gómez went out with her partner, Ernesto Jorge Narcisi, in Buenos Aires. That evening, he stabbed her to death. The media reported the case as a “crime of passion in Puerto Madero.”

Ten years later, her daughter, Mara Avila, resignifies that so-called “crime of passion” as a femicide. She decides to make a first-person documentary, transforming her greatest personal tragedy into a political and collective reflection. Through a subjective and social lens, the film questions violence, memory, and justice.

Where to watch

This first-person documentary — in which I reflect on my mourning process as María Elena Gómez’s daughter, as well as from my perspective as a communicator and activist — is available with English subtitles and other languages on Amazon Prime:

New Project (In Development)

Throughout this year, I have been developing a new feature documentary, To See What Cannot Be Seen, continuing my work with personal archives and exploring mental health across different stages of my life, before and after the pandemic.

This will be my third feature film and represents a significant creative challenge. I am working with Sabrina Blanco on screenplay consulting and with Alejandra Perdomo on executive production. Despite the critical situation of film funding in Argentina due to current government policies, I strongly believe in the importance of continuing to create. I am deeply grateful to do so with creativity, and I hope to secure funding soon.
